Jens Fromm is head of the research group eIdentity and leading numerous industry and research projects for one of the largest European research associations the Fraunhofer Society. His research focus at the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems FOKUS is on sociological and technical trust relations, electronic identities and technical and organizational interoperability.

As the head of the Test- and Demonstrationcenter German eID (Test- und Demonstrationszentrum neuer Personalausweis) supported by the German Federal Ministry of Interior, his current focus is on accompanying the application tests of Germanys electronic Identity Card.

Prior to his appointment at the Fraunhofer FOKUS, Jens Fromm worked for four years as a project manager for the German-Polish World Trade Center Frankfurt (Oder)/ Slubice where he ran several European and transatlantic projects, including in the fields of eGovernment and IT.

Jens Fromm studied sociology and political science at the Free University of Berlin with special reference to North America and trust. He also teaches at the department of Open Communication Systems at the Technical University of Berlin. Periods of residence in the USA, England, France and Poland testify to his broad cultural and linguistic interests.
